Research and Development System

Research and development to revolutionize materials to production technology.

Friction materials are the key to performance. The F.C.C. clutch is developed based on the development of this key factor. All materials clear environmental restrictions, and production methods to reduce the load onto the environment are taken in various ways, such as the elimination of wastes in the forming stages. While improving the function of the entire clutch, our research and development extends into the production technology and equipment. We continue to look one step forward of the times to revolutionize clutch technology while making products that satisfy all aspects including quality, cost and delivery.

We are actively promoting the industry-academia collaboration in the field related to our innovative technology concerning clutches and paper friction materials. We offer our accumulated knowledge for the development of the fundamental research.

This electron microscope is capable of composition analysis. It is used for examining raw materials to figure out their shape, size, and so on. It also yields useful information on the features of an friction material by showing how the elements are arranged on the surface.

It consists of a range of automatic mercury intrusion porosimeters used for the pore size analysis of a wet friction material in oil. It enables us to develop reliable friction materials that can be used under any conditions.

Tests to prove performance that can withstand even extreme conditions.

Various working environments are simulated during the development stages, and strict test to measure the clutch's functions and characteristics are carried out. A variety of tests are carried out including various computer-generated simulations of starting, travel and stopping, travel tests with the clutch actually mounted in the vehicle, and tests under severe conditions such as longtime operation tests at high-speed ranges. Our clutches accurately pass the performance level for safety as well as heat resistance and wear resistance, while responding to detailed demands for clutch feeling, etc.

SAE#2Tester

SAE#2Tester
Tests are conducted to meet JASO Standard M348-2002. It evaluates and analyzes the friction features of an wet clutch and ATF.

Opposed Twin Spindle Tester

Opposed Twin Spindle Tester
Wet and lock up clutch units are tested on this tester. Different levels of loads and hydraulic and lubricant conditions can be simulated for detailed evaluation.

CVT

CVT
CVT units are tested under the conditions that are similar to an actual vehicle. In addition, more severe conditions are simulated to test clutch performance and durability.

Chassis Dynamo

Chassis Dynamo
It tests a vehicle's performance in every stage of driving. Its data are used to further test a clutch by itself.
